Doug,
While we are on the topic do you know who runs Redhat's Open Source Now
(OSN) mailing list? That is another duplicate of what the
schoolforge-discuss mailing list is trying to do. It would be great if
we could convence Redhat to merge...then we could have one mailing list
that people interested in Linux in education could come to. But perhaps
that would just add to the volume of e-mail. Thoughts?
I follow the OSN list through its archives, and I have no problem with
it staying separate, as I don't think it's very useful. I don't see
much substantive discussion about Linux in education there, as I do on
both this and the schoolforge-discuss lists. I think the OSN group is a
member of Schoolforge, and I know I've mentioned Schoolforge on the OSN
list a few times, but I don't think the regular OSN list denizens are
all that interested in actually talking about and working toward open
resources in education. Or I should say, the few that are are already
on schoolforge-discuss too. At any rate, I don't think we want to
stifle any existing lists or groups, we just want to make sure they're
aware of each other and talk across their boundaries.
