I taught a beginner's course on C++ this fall, and I chose Stroustrup as
the course book. With the course now over I think it might have been a bad
decision for a first book for people learning C++. I can't recommend any
other easier book, but there are 'a few' C++ books out there. Once you
know the language to some extent then Stroustrup is worth its weight in
gold. As my students had some difficulty in understanding the book I ended
up creating a small 'tutorial' spanning roughly 350 pages. It was fun to
write, an it's quite good, IMHO, but in Swedish... :-)
