SEUL: Mailing list problems

I must ask again:

Please move all technical discussions to the appropriate seul-dev-* list.
seul-project is *not* the place for the majority of these.

seul-dev-admin: administrative stuff; recovery (text-mode) editor, XDM
seul-dev-apps: applications; WP, SS, DB, graphical editor
seul-dev-distrib: packaging issues, etc.
seul-dev-help: help browser, documentation
seul-dev-install: installation, including X configuration, etc.
seul-dev-ui: user interface; GNOME, other toolkits, XDM login prompt

There has been talk of making seul-project a moderated list. I don't want
to see that happen, but it will if discussions aren't moved to the
appropriate lists.

Three other things that still appears to be a problem:

1) please strip the To: and Cc: lines. Many people on this list are
getting duplicates of the e-mail because they're both on the list and
in the To: or Cc: lines. There are some cases where this is appropriate,
but only when you are replying explicitly to one or two people and copying
the list.

2) quoting: When replying to a message, strip all parts of the message
you're quoting that don't apply. Personally, I'm getting tired of having
to scroll 2 or 3 pages just to get to new material. It puts extra pressure
on the mail server, and everyone receiving the mail.

3) subject lines: threading has gone to hell. If you have a subject you're
discussing that isn't what the subject says, start a new thread with the
correct subject. 'Stopping dreams', for instance, has covered almost every
topic under the sun. If something doesn't fit, start a new message
to the list. But *make sure* you're sending it to the right list!

TIA,
   Omega
