Some mail programs worth checking out : 

(a)	TkRat 
(b)	exmh

and for a console based mailer;

(c)	pine

which brings me to this point : where does SEUL stand on pine , given that
it's non-free ? (that is, you can modify but the modified product has to
be called pine/pico)
