I put it in '~/bashrc' and tried it out BEFORE I posted.
Wouldn't putting it in the profile cause odd problems ?
Speaking of odd problems... it it tries to startx in an xterm.
but this can be fixed By having xterms use a different bashrc
file ( read about this somewhere )
