vendor/product information site (was Re: vendor boycotts, etc.)

I'm not saying that it's nothing but a big boycott. I'd like to have a
page listing who makes what and its support level relative to Linux. It
will be recommended that people not buy anything from those companies who
don't support Linux intentionally, and that pressure be put on all
companies that don't. This will help those on the fence move towards
support, and will provide an incentive for those who intentionally don't.
For those that intentionally don't, there would be a set of pages
containing copies of communications to/from this company and Linux users,
contact information for the higher-ups who make the decisions, and
possibly a list of alternative vendors.
It's possible to effect a useful boycott without it being obvious. Just
keep the consumers well informed, and they do it themselves without even
thinking 'boycott'.
