Regarding mentioned ones -- I'm packaging Solfege and find it
quite ready for use, additionally being cross-platform; Yacas is
pretty simple at a glance and quite useful -- can be devastating
at the usefulness of homework on high maths :-)

I'd really recommend these.

Already added some comments and a couple of programs
(soundtracker/music, noteedit/music, lavaps/utility).
