That is not necessary. You can write highly modular applications for KDE
and GNOME (just look at Konqueror <http://www.konqueror.org>).

Desktopenviroments are usefull, more effective and advanced as single
progams. So these users are right to raise the worth of an application
for theis desktop.

The Linux philosophy is also the KDE and GNOME philosophy. There is no
KDE.exe and GNOME.exe but many programs who share libraries and are
interfaces. Besides that Linux can't die. You can use it forever.

Your programm could only look nicer :-)
But other programms like plotters could easily export their datas to a
database or a chart drawing application.

Then I don't know why you are on seul.org

They aren't perfect but better than the rest. I think they help to
increase the number of Linux-users. And GNOME and KDE don't prevent
developers to write good educational applications.
