[seul-edu] AUC release 0.7.3
Hello everyone,
I've released AUC 0.7.3 to the website (http://auc.sourceforge.net). For
those of you who don't know, AUC stands for Authenticated User Community
and is a web-based portal/intranet application intended for K12 use. It
includes a web-based email client that supports IMAP and UNIX mbox. It is
also available in several languages and has a flexible plug-in API for
developer additions. It is similar in approach to IT4School, LearnLoop,
WebCT, etc.
The most significant feature added with 0.7.3 is dropbox support, allowing
instructors to create a turn-in bin where students can upload assignments.
Another widely requested "feature" is the removal of the libxml2
dependency. With 0.7.3, you no longer need to install libxml2 before AUC
(in fact, it might work better if you get rid of libxml2 completely).
Also, the AUC RPMs are now compiled from a RedHat 7.1 machine, so they
should install much more easily on modern systems. This also means the
default paths for things match those of RH 7.x, so keep that in mind when
you run ./configure (Use ./configure --help if you need to specify
alternate paths).
Finally, Jose L. Redrejo contributed a spanish translation of the
newspaper publishing script. There are a few translation updates in other
languages and of course, numerous bug fixes.
Enjoy, and let me know of any bugs or problems you find with this release.
Best Regards,
David
