Imho, you'd better cite GNU-Linux.

Linux is Linus' great free kernel. Within a distribution CD, it uses 
about 25 Mbytes (in source form). The other 600 Mbytes are essentially GNU
software. Without GNU software and the GPL licensing, Linux would be less
known than it is actually.
