Phase 4 of the ISO project can proceed in parallel with the other
efforts, as it consists of investigating and selecting the best
installer software for our apps. We need an installer (or
possibly a separate installer for DEBs, RPMs, and/or TGZs, though
I'd prefer one that works for everything) that is graphical,
given our target audience, easy to navigate, and that shows the
apps in a clear logical fashion that allows the user to see a
short description of the app (possibly with a URL to the app's
website) and to select multiple apps for batch addition. It also
needs to check for dependencies and automatically install any
additional needed packages.
Here's a webpage sith a number of such apps listed:
http://www.linux.org/apps/all/System/Compression/Package-1.html?sort=name
I need someone to look over these and any other installers he or
she can locate and to give us a recommendation on what we should
use. Volunteers?
