I know you didn't mean that the way it came out, but we're not
criticizing _you_, we're commenting on your gradebook program and how it
might be improved.  It's important to make the separation between the
person and the work.  If I make a mistake in something I do, I want to
know about it; that doesn't mean that that mistake is somehow
representative of a basic failing in me as a person.
