At least on the Redhat
distro, it helps to run SuperProbe and write down all the information on
chipset, ramdac, and so on. Then run Xconfigurator and don't be too concerned
with the left column showing the name of the video card. Instead, look in the
right hand column for one that matches your chipset, and select that choice.
Then select your monitor, and away you go.
I have no idea if this will
help if you have a distro other than redhat.
