OnlineCourse includes a browser-based online classroom (chat)
function, a message board, along with sections for course materials,
assignments and homework. Course materials may be prepared as MS
Word doc files and then uploaded directly to the site. Assignments
are added by filling out a Web form. Once an assignment's effective
date roles around, it becomes visible to students who may then
complete the assignment and submit it for grading or work on it over
the course of several sessions before submitting it. Upon submission
for grading, the homework becomes visible to the instructor who then
enters a grade for the work. This grade then becomes visible to the
student. Of course, homework and grades are only viewable by the
appropriate student based on their login. The message board allows
for both private and public messages except that the instructor may
view all messages. The instructor's view also includes access to the
underlying Zope management interface and a log of student
participation.
