John,
    One thing that will bite you is if you have an extra transceiver powered
up but not connected to your LAN. If it's the closest one to your PC's
wireless NIC, it will grab hold of it and not let it connect to any other
transceiver. This will prevent the PC from getting an IP address. (Found out
the hard way, but with Win98 instead of Linux.)
