I don't want this to be a me too thread, but I have several points in
favor of Python, my being a member of the PSA not one of them :)
I have used python examples in CGI programming courses and found that
people without previous exposure had less problems grasping Python than
the other languages, PHP included.
I myself am proficient in several languages, including such arcana as awk,
Unix regular expresions, LISP or Prolog (Perl not being one of them, 'cos
I found Python whe I was starting to lear it), and Python has quickly
become my language of choice.
In the past two years I have introduced Python to several people who
became proficient in a short time and now use it as their preferred
language.

Wasn't one of our objectives getting Linux on those systems as well? :)
