  No, it won't.

  You see.  X will grab the Console, no matter what VT you are in.  And the
'loop of death', is when XDM starts X, X grabs the console but dies returning
to XDM which doesn't care if X died... and restarts X, which again grabs the
console but dying again... and so forth.  If you press CTRL+ALT+F1 in this
situation, you'll get a virtual terminal for a period of less than a second, or
until X grabs your console again.

  The only way to get out, is to log in and kill XDM between the flashes.
