Ok there was an error in the build that prevented the creation of the
compressed ramdisk image from being created.  It WILL boot the kernel if
you specify a ramdisk ... like this:

boot: rescue root=/dev/<where your root partition lives>

I am going to make some changes and try again but it takes a long time to
build so I will not be able to test it until tomarrow.
