I have been watching at some sources in RedHat 6.0 and it seems all
fonts will be served from a font server with an automated tool
configuring the font server and restarting it when a new font is
installed.  What I still haven't looked st is if that font server
hadles True Type fonts and if it does it well.  Otherwise we could
chain xfstt after it.
