Need help on the quick start guide
The quick start guide is coming along nicely, but I have a few
questions, confirmations, and a few requests. A few more days, and I
will post it for approval... <or scorn, whichever is merited :-) >
First, I need screen shots of the setup process! Disk Druid is the
most needed, but anything you have, and pointers to and web sites. I
have NOTHING but badly scanned pictures out of books. :-)
I need some minimums and maximums on partitions. Fill in the blanks
and correct as needed. Swap is required? Can range from ?? to 127 meg.
<126 in fdisk due to translation problems> You can have a maximum of ??
swap files. <I have seen two answers to this...> You must have a /
partition. It can be as small as ?? and as large as 500 meg. These are
the only REQUIRED partitions. RECOMMENDED partitions are /home for home
directories of users, and /usr/local for local system applications.
/usr/local should be from 100 meg up depending on the amount of apps...
/home should be the rest of the drive.
On the screen "Start the following processes on boot" does anyone
have a simple one line list of what is what? Just the basics...
Once booted, I am going to switch into KDE and walk through adding a
user, a printer, and configuring the NIC, or KPPP. What is an easy way
to take screenshots in KDE? <I know, it is a simple question, but I
can't get XV to work... I feel so silly>
TIA,
Lee
