Santa Claus

If all goes well we will have a complete distrib available for
download before Santa brings gifts to every little Linuxer who has
been a good guy/girl this year.

Only that I am not sure to have time before time Christmas to to build
the SRPMS directory. RPMS will be on cran and SRPMS on belegost due
to space constraints.

FEATURES:

Linux must be easy, so X apps are designed to be as plug and posible:
transxparent installation of KDE, fonts, fontservers and resources
provided they are packaged the Independence way. A nice editor:
Cooledit. Notice that Independence will be AFAIK the first Linux
distrib providing out of the box decent output when viewing PostScript
files from X: no longer is reading docs a pain due to bad output.
True Type support.

Linux must be fun: Latest GIMP, Moonlight, Sane 1.0 and Sound software
for the artistically oriented people. Of course some games (not FGFS
who is Slooooow without a 3DFX)

Linux must be useful: Software for real people the ones who have
hobbies and needs outside the computer area. So is included software
for chek book balancing, a small database for keeping track of the
wines or books you have, xinvest and so on

Linux must be realistic: The guy who learns Linux at the schol of hard
knocks will get help thanks to mail, news, IRC so we ship clients
suitable for use with PPP intead of focusing on LANs.

BUGS:

Only a tiny part of what I would like is implemented.

No special install beyond RedHat's.

Much software is not at the latest version and some of them is not
best in category

Many things should be better done. In particular the transparent
installation of fonts and UIs.

When there is a FAQ that means there is a problem: the user should see
or have seen the solution. I wanted to implement the principle of "info
going to the user" instead of the opposite No time.

NEEDED:

I made blind translations for the install so they would need to be
revised by people speaking other languages

In addition the web site should be revised (cutting the repository
part until broken links are repaired)

FUTURE:

Continuous revisions with public announces about every month or so.
