[Computerbank] OT: disposing of "junk"

Greetings from a lurker,

I have a few bits of "junk" computer bits[1] and my question is re
"acceptable practices" and "best practice" for disposing of these bits
(dead P/Supply; old, dead M/Board etc).

Is it considered acceptable to just turf these in the domestic refuse
collection?  If not, what is usually done?

[1] trust me, CB doesn't want these bits - I'm sure you can accumulate
garbage without my helping.
